Timothy Cheng

A Cross-Cultural Story of a Freelance Designer Between Hong Kong and the UK

Alright, let me tell you a bit about Tim Cheng!  I'm a Hong Kong-born designer who headed off to the UK back in the day to study architecture for five years. I got his chops working at the world-famous Foster + Partners. Then in 2000, I came back home to Hong Kong and became the lead designer at several top-notch design firms, focusing on office spaces for financial companies. By 2009, he made his dream come true by founding his own studio, TIA Interior.

Now, talking about my achievements— I'm bagged awards like the Hong Kong Trade Development Council’s design honors, Perspective’s 40 Under 40, and the Formica Design Awards.  I'm also been a judge for various design competitions and had my work featured in the South China Morning Post and Perspective magazine. I'm even showcased a MUJI chair I designed at the Detour exhibition.

Besides that,  I'm super involved in giving back— I'm part of several professional associations and teaches at local universities, helping to inspire the next generation of designers.

Josephine Gan

A Cross-Cultural Story of a Freelance Designer Between Hong Kong and the UK

Josephine’s journey is really quite rich! After studying at an art academy in Malaysia, she wents on to the UK to complete a degree in interior architecture. In 2012, she joined TIA Interior as a lead designer. Not only did her work on clinic designs, but she also took on projects for institutions like the Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital and Quality HealthCare Medical. This gave her a broad range of experience and a diverse portfolio at TIA Interior.
