“ A diamond-shaped apartment reimagined through openness and sculptural design. Oak-clad “tree” pillars, concealed storage, and fluid circulation transform this West Kowloon home into a calm, playful and highly functional living space.”
The unusual diamond-shaped layout of this West Kowloon apartment inspired a bold rethinking of space. Almost all internal walls were removed—leaving just one—to create a more open, fluid and highly functional home.
The organic floor plan of this 1,000 sq ft residence at Island Harbourview led to the creation of three sculptural pillars in the living area. Clad in oak, these pillars are designed to resemble trees—rooted into the timber floor and visually extending upward into infinity, enhanced by mirrored ceiling panels made with safety plastic. One of the “trees” integrates a light box, adding height while displaying travel souvenirs and personal trophies.
These sculptural elements not only enlarge the visual space but also introduce a sense of discovery, as the full layout is not revealed at first glance. The open kitchen is partially concealed, finished in crisp white tones and paired with a bespoke dining table.
To preserve the purity of the space, the television was discreetly positioned to one side, ensuring it does not dominate the overall design.
Removing the internal walls also improved circulation throughout the home. Shoes are hidden in a custom cabinet beside the dining area, while children’s toys are neatly concealed behind the television wall.
Storage continues to play a key role in the master bedroom, where a hydraulic bed maximises functionality. The bed placement also blocks views from neighbouring buildings, enhancing privacy.
The apartment includes a children’s bedroom and a separate study or makeup area. A shared window between the two allows parents to keep an eye on their children, with a blind available when privacy is needed.
Keeping with the home’s clean aesthetic, the bathroom is finished in simple white tiles, accented with a grey marble-pattern feature wall.
