TIA Home Design
“ A four-storey Redhill residence centred around a dramatic walnut-clad atrium. Handcrafted timber, layered lighting, and seamless indoor–outdoor connections create a refined, tropical spa-like home for a young family.”
The heart of this Redhill residence is a striking atrium that rises through the home, immediately drawing the eye and defining the space.
What makes it truly special is not just the dramatic double-height volume, but the handcrafted walnut installation that wraps the atrium. Thousands of individually cut walnut pieces were carefully crafted and installed by hand over six months, creating a rich play of light and shadow. Linear light strips and skylights were introduced to complement the rhythm of the timber and enhance the natural lighting.
Walnut continues as a key material throughout the four-storey, 4,000-square-foot home, appearing in the study, lounge, and bespoke cabinetry. In the kitchen, timber finishes help create a warm and cohesive look, while greenery from the surrounding garden visually connects the interior with nature.
This indoor–outdoor relationship extends into the master bedroom, which opens directly onto the garden and ensuite through a full-height window. Consistent materials are used both inside and out to blur the boundary between interior and exterior spaces.
The existing staircase presented a challenge, as structural limitations prevented major alterations. A new handrail and updated flooring were introduced to seamlessly integrate it with the refreshed interior.
Luxury details complete the home, including Thai silk wall panels, Italian cabinetry, limestone flooring, and frameless doors throughout. The black glass entrance door reveals the dramatic roofline and sea views, with a motorised blind providing privacy when needed.
The result is a refined, tropical spa-like home designed for a young family—calm, elegant, and deeply connected to nature.
