NGO Design
“A forward-looking NGO renovation designed to inspire calm, care, and renewal—balancing emotional comfort with functional clarity for both visitors and staff.”
This NGO renovation project aims to create a renewed spatial experience for both service users and staff—one that conveys warmth, hope, and the power of renewal.
As the organisation’s annual awards programme is a well-recognised brand in Hong Kong, an 18-metre-long curved exhibition wall was designed as the visual centrepiece. Compared to a conventional straight wall, the curved form introduces a sense of movement and energy, reinforcing positive emotions.
The entrance features automated glass doors for ease of access. To the left, a full-height screen subtly appears within a mirrored surface, displaying calming visuals such as forests and natural landscapes, accompanied by gentle ambient sounds to help visitors feel at ease upon arrival.
On the right, a circular reception desk echoes the curvature of the exhibition wall and staff office, creating a welcoming and gentle first impression. Integrated storage ensures the space remains tidy and functional.
At the centre of the space, a feature ceiling composed of seed-like dotted forms symbolises protection and growth—offering visitors a sense of being cared for and supported.
Staff areas are enclosed with glass partitions to enhance openness and corridor width, improving comfort and visibility. Green-toned graphics applied to the glass reinforce the project’s environmental and psychological themes.
The renovation also includes upgraded pantry and hygiene facilities, along with a dedicated IT and computer management area to improve daily operations.
Overall, the design focuses on enhancing the experience of both visitors and staff—creating a space that feels relevant not just today, but for the next ten years.
