TIA Arts Gallery & Exhibition Design
“A minimalist, invitation-only art gallery in Central designed to let artworks speak for themselves, using museum-grade lighting, concealed storage, and carefully curated “true white” finishes.”
Sometimes, the simplest spaces require the most thoughtful design.
This invitation-only art gallery in Central, Hong Kong was conceived as a calm, understated backdrop where each artwork can be experienced without distraction. Working within a 1,000-square-foot space, the design carefully balances functionality, flow, and visual clarity.
The layout subtly defines areas for reception, work, and private viewings, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience for invited guests. Upon entry, visitors are greeted by a solid LG block that functions as the reception desk—designed to feel like a sculptural object placed at the heart of the gallery.
Behind the scenes, work areas, bookshelves, and storage are concealed within the walls, keeping the gallery space clean and focused on the artworks. A hiden storeroom allows artworks to be stored securely and accessed easily when needed.
As with all galleries, colour accuracy was critical. The walls and concrete flooring were finished in carefully selected “true white” tones, free from colour pigments that might affect how artworks are perceived.
Museum-grade lighting with advanced LED technology was installed throughout the space. The flexible system allows filters to be changed and walls to be evenly washed with light, ensuring each artwork is displayed with accurate colour and clarity.
The French and Japanese owners, who also operate galleries in Japan, were impressed by the precision, restraint, and high standards achieved in the Hong Kong project.
